I have found this much easier to follow the diet this time. I think there are two reasons:
1. It is easier to by food for 2 people on $6 a day than for 1 person on $3 a day.
2. My wife can find much better deals than I can!
Even though it is easier, this experience still challenges me.
- I miss the taste of my favorite foods
- I miss being able to eat whenever I want, whatever I want.
- I quickly forget how much of my life revolves around eating
- I am really thankful I do not have to live this way all the time! I am grateful to God for the abundance that I have.

Tuesday's food
Yesterday, Kenda found a 5 pound bag of potatoes for $2.29 at Tom Thumb and a 3 pound bag of applies for $1.99. This is much easier with two people than with one person.
Here is today's food
breakfast: oatmeal
lunch: peanut butter sandwich and apple
dinner: baked potatoes with chili

Food/Drink at work
The question has been posted about partaking of free food and drink at work. I think it is fine to eat or drink what is provided at work. I'm not too legalistic about this, the point is the not rules, the point is the experience.
I do wish we had "Be Our Guest" at our church this week. We could all volunteer to be table hosts!

Kids and school lunches
The question has been raised about children who attend school, what to do about lunch? My thought is that if you are on food stamps, the kids would be on free or reduced lunch. Therefore, kids can take money to school to buy the most basic lunch, and it does not count against the $3.

Food Stamp Diet
You are invited to participate in the Food Stamp Diet, March 2-8. The food stamp diet limits you to spending $3 a day for your food and drink. This is what the average American on food stamps receives.
This blog is intended to provide a place for those participating in the food stamp diet to share ideas on expensive food sources and receipts.
For example, last year when I did this I bought all my bread from the day old rack at Kroger.
